When so much at NASA is centered on numbers, DRPs (Directed Reassignment Programs), and reductions in force, it’s easy to lose sight of the fact that each departure represents a lifetime of contributions and stories worth celebrating. Columbus wanted to take a moment to recognize three of our own who are retiring—together representing over 100 years of service to NASA missions: Bill Muscovich, Joe Springer, and Mike Roza.
Bill Muscovich dedicated more than 25 years to advancing spacecraft subsystems on missions like LANDSAT, TERRA, AURA, and LCRD, where his technical expertise and professionalism elevated every project.
Joe Springer gave nearly 40 years to NASA Goddard, leading power systems development on the GOES satellite series and GeoXO, leaving a legacy of technical excellence and mentorship.
Mike Roza brought engineering leadership from Terra and Aura to GOES-R, GPS III, and GeoXO, shaping the success of critical programs and inspiring the teams he worked alongside.
Together, these three represent a century of dedication to space science and exploration. Each of them shared that they felt lucky to do a job they loved every single day—a powerful reminder of the passion that drives our community.
We celebrate their lifetime achievements and wish them joy in this next chapter.
